Renshi David Harry
Chief Instructor
David Harry is the only remaining member of the original Port Elmsley Karate group. He started Karate in Lanark in 2003 at a “bring a parent to class” night with his daughter, Emily. He then learned Karate under the guidance of Sensei James Gibson, who operated the Port Elmsley Karate club back in 2003.
David achieved his black belt (Sho Dan) in June of 2007 and is currently ranked as a 3rd Dan in Shotokan Karate. He has competed in both Point sparring and kata competitions, having won a number of trophies and medals.
David takes great pride in being the chief instructor at PEK, especially with seeing the progress of kids and adults alike as they move through the ranks. He has seen many students come and go over the years, having had the honor of putting black belts on some along the way.
Being a grandfather of 4 with another on the way, he hopes to one day teach them and possibly put black belts around their waists.
